Deadliest wildfire in California history finally contained

Fueled by high winds and low humidity the Camp Fire ripped through the town of Paradise charring over 150,000 acres, killing at least 83 people and destroying over 18,000 businesses and homes, including that of Noah Fisher, pictured here.

The raging wildfire in California known as Camp Fire has been fully contained, according to California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Officials for the organization stated that the fire had finally been contained after racing through over 153,000 acres in the northern part of the state. The fire has been declared the most destructive and deadliest in California state history.

In total, the blaze has destroyed roughly 19,000 buildings - mostly homes - with the death toll currently standing at 85 people; 249 people are still unaccounted for. Camp Fire has been raging for nearly three weeks, destroying nearly the entire town of Paradise in the process. At the height of the fire, roughly a quarter of a million people fled their homes.

An estimated seven inches of rain was recently dropped onto the northern California area over three days, aiding the efforts to extinguish the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
