Family of Cambridge murder victim, DA to hold news conference on anniversary of unsolved case

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Neighbors who walk in Cambridge’s Danehy Park can’t believe it’s already been a year since a man was killed there.

Police say Paul Wilson, 60, was found beaten and unconscious in the park on Jan. 2, 2019.

He died in the hospital.

Police still haven't made any arrests for his murder.

“Going back over the case, sometimes bringing in a fresh set of eyes to jump on and assist the investigators and look at it from a different perspective can be helpful as well,” Boston 25 News Security Expert Dan Linskey said.

He says it's a good idea for the Middlesex District Attorney to bring this murder case to the public Thursday.

He says even though it's been a year, there could be new evidence or new motivation for someone to come forward.

"Sometimes the passage of time can make victims and witnesses more comfortable coming forward, perhaps you have a suspect who people were fearful of, that if they came forward they could be in physical danger," Linskey said.

He added sometimes it could take years to solve a murder case like this.

But neighbors are hoping Thursday's plea from the victim's family will somehow bring new evidence to police to finally give them some answers as to what happened to Wilson and why.

"It’s really sad and I don’t quite understand why there hasn’t been any findings," Amy Carlin, a Cambridge resident, said. "It seems like if there were, you know, clues and information it would have come forward by now."

The press conference on this unsolved murder will be Thursday afternoon.
