WILMINGTON, Mass. — Crews from multiple towns battled an early morning fire at a recycling facility where paper and cardboard boxes were on fire.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was released from a local hospital.
The building appears to be the site of Office Paper Recovery Systems Inc., a large paper recycling building that occupies about 76,000 square feet, according to the company's website. OPRSystems says it recycles paper waste and offers document shredding and destruction to businesses of all sizes as well as electronics, cans and bottles.
Assistance from North Reading, Andover, Tewksbury, Billerica and Burlington responded to 235 Andover Street and had the fire knocked down by 3:30 a.m.
Heavy machinery was brought in and the building has extensive damage. No homes were affected.
