43 more deaths, 2,912 new confirmed cases*

The state’s Department of Public Health on Monday released COVID-19 data over a two-day period that included the Easter holiday on Sunday, April 4, and Monday, April 5. During this two-day period, the state saw 2,912 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the commonwealth has seen 607,967 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 35,167 active cases.

Also Monday, Mass. DPH reported that 43 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of deaths in Massachusetts among people with confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,981.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Monday that 113,587 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19.

Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 19,252,065 total molecular tests for the virus.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests was 2.36% Monday.

New COVID-19 cases more than 2K for fourth straight day

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Saturday that there are 2,263 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the commonwealth has seen 605,055 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 34,157 active ones.

Additionally, Mass. DPH reported that 30 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,938.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Saturday that 116,516 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19. Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 19,138,478 total molecular tests for the virus.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests decreased to 2.44% Saturday.

Friday, April 2

Mass. surpasses 19 million tests

The state reached another milestone on Friday, with more than 19 million molecular tests administered since the pandemic began. The state Department of Public Health reported Friday that 93,214 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19, pushing the total number of tests administered to 19,021,962.

State health officials also reported Friday that there are 2,160 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, Massachusetts has seen 602,792 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 33,424 active ones.

Also, the state DPH reported that 32 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19. That pushes the total number of deaths in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,908.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests rose to 2.55% on Friday, up from 2.49% on Thursday.

55 Mass. cities and towns are in the ‘red’

The number of Massachusetts cities and towns now considered high-risk for COVID-19 transmission nearly doubled on Thursday, with a total of 55 towns & cities classified as being in the “red,” up from 32 communities statewide with that designation last week, the state’s Department of Public Health reported.

The “red” cities and towns are: Abington, Adams, Athol, Ayer, Barnstable, Blackstone, Brewster, Brockton, Canton, Carver, Chicopee, Dennis, Dracut, Everett, Fall River, Framingham, Freetown, Granby, Halifax, Hampden, Hanson, Harwich, Lakeville, Lawrence, Lowell, Ludlow, Lynn, Mansfield, Mashpee, Methuen, Milford, Monson, Nantucket, New Bedford, North Attleborough, Orange, Palmer, Peabody, Pembroke, Plainville, Plymouth, Raynham, Sandwich, Saugus, Seekonk, Southborough, Springfield, Sutton, Templeton, Tyngsborough, Ware, West Boylston, West Bridgewater, Williamstown and Yarmouth.

Also Thursday, the state reached another milestone of 600,000 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began last year.

The DPH reported 2,455 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts on Thursday, up from 2,252 cases reported Wednesday. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, Massachusetts has seen 600,632 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 32,868 active cases.

Also, the state DPH reported that 32 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, down slightly from 36 deaths reported on Wednesday. That pushes the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,876.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Thursday that 107,740 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19, down from 115,453 tests administered Wednesday. Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 18,928,748 total molecular tests for the virus.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests was 2.49% on Thursday, down slightly from 2.53% Wednesday.

Deaths, cases increase as active cases remain over 30K for fourth day

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Wednesday that there are 2,252 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts, up from 1,683 cases reported Tuesday. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, Massachusetts has seen 598,177 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 31,911 active ones.

Also, the state DPH reported that 36 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, double the 18 deaths reported on Tuesday. That pushes the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,844.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Wednesday that 115,453 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19, up from 59,818 tests administered Tuesday.

Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 18,821,008 total molecular tests for the virus.

Active cases remain over 30K for third day, positive-test rate increases

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Tuesday that there are 1,683 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the commonwealth has seen 595,925 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 31,298 active ones.

Additionally, Mass. DPH reported that 18 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,808.

State reports fewer new cases, deaths Monday than Sunday

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Monday 1,464 new coronavirus cases, bringing the state’s total to 594,242. The state says there are currently 31,428 active cases in the commonwealth.

State data reports 15 new deaths Monday. Since the coronavirus pandemic began, 16,790 people have died from the virus.

There are currently 675 people hospitalized with coronavirus.

The state reported 41,771 new tests Monday, bringing the total number of tests administered in the state to 18,645,737.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests increased to 2.37% Monday.

DPH reports 1,817 new cases, 29 new deaths Sunday

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Sunday that there are 1,817 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the commonwealth has seen 592,778 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 30,772 active ones.

Additionally, Mass. DPH reported that 29 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,775.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Sunday that 75,179 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19. Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 18,603,996 total molecular tests for the virus.

Additionally, Mass. DPH reported that 35 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,746.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Saturday that 108,411 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19. Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 18,528,787 total molecular tests for the virus.

Friday, March 26

Mass. sees slight increase in deaths, cases

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported Friday that 40 more people in Massachusetts have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, up slightly from 39 deaths reported Thursday. That pushes the total number of deaths in the state among people with confirmed cases of coronavirus to 16,711. One death of a person with a probable case of the virus was also reported.

Also, the DPH reported 2,301 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, up from 2,274 new cases reported Thursday. Since the pandemic began a year ago, the state has seen 588,599 total confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Statewide, 622 people remained hospitalized with coronavirus on Friday. Of those patients, 139 were in intensive care units and 84 were intubated.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the state DPH reported that 107,593 new molecular tests have been administered in the commonwealth for COVID-19.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests increased to 2.32% on Friday, up from 2.23% on Thursday.

Mass. reports jump in red communities over last week

Massachusetts officials reported an increase of cities and towns that are in the “red” and deemed high-risk for COVID-19 on Thursday. The state now has 32 communities in the red, compared with 20 communities last week.

The “red” cities and towns include Barnstable, Bellingham, Blackstone, Brewster, Chicopee, Dennis, Fall River, Freetown, Hanson, Harwich, Haverhill, Lancaster, Lawrence, Lee, Lowell, Lynn, Mashpee, Methuen, Millis, Monson, New Bedford, North Attleborough, Palmer, Pembroke, Plainville, Plymouth, Sandwich, Southwick, Sutton, Templeton, West Bridgewater, and Yarmouth.

The announcement came as the state saw an increased number of new coronavirus cases on Thursday, with 2,274 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Mass. sees more cases, fewer deaths

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported Thursday that there are 2,274 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, up from 1,865 cases reported Wednesday. Since the pandemic began a year ago, the state has seen 586,298 total confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Additionally, DPH reported that 39 more people in Massachusetts have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, down from 54 deaths reported Wednesday.

That pushes the total number of fatalities in the state among people who had confirmed cases of the coronavirus to 16,671.

Statewide, 631 people remained hospitalized with coronavirus on Thursday, the DPH said.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests remained at 2.23% on Thursday.

Additionally, DPH reported that 54 more people in Massachusetts have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of fatalities in the state among people who had confirmed cases of the coronavirus to 16,632.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, Mass. DPH reported that 106,349 new molecular tests have been administered in the commonwealth for COVID-19.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Monday that 36,564 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19. Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 17,462,094 total molecular tests for the virus.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests also rose to 1.73 percent Monday.

More than 900,000 people completely vaccinated in Mass.

The Department of Public Health in Massachusetts released new COVID-19 vaccination numbers Monday, reporting that 12,448 new doses of vaccine have been administered in the Commonwealth since yesterday. Of those new doses administered, 6,074 were first doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, 5,697 were second doses and 677 were doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

In total, 2,535,295 total doses of vaccine have been administered in Massachusetts. That number is 89.4 percent of the total doses that have been shipped to the state, which currently stands at 2,836,670.

Massachusetts has received 1,400 new vaccines since yesterday.

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Sunday that there are 1,508 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the commonwealth has seen 568,616 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 26,459 active ones.

Additionally, Mass. DPH reported that 30 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,311.

That pushes the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,247.

DPH also said that there are 1,577 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts, down slightly from 1,589 new cases reported Thursday. To date, the commonwealth has seen 565,560 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 25,858 active cases.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Friday that 99,912 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19, down from 110,385 new tests administered on Thursday. Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 17,229,788 total molecular tests for the virus.

As of Friday, 641 people remained hospitalized with coronavirus in Massachusetts. Of those patients, 170 were in the intensive care unit and 116 were intubated.

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Thursday that 42 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, down from 53 deaths reported Wednesday. That pushes the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,218.

DPH also said that there are 1,589 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts, up from 1,413 new cases reported Wednesday. To date, the commonwealth has seen 563,983 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 25,901 active cases.

Mass. sees jump in deaths, new cases and new tests

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Wednesday that the state has surpassed 17 million molecular tests administered since the pandemic began last year.

Also, DPH reported that 53 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, more than double from the 20 deaths reported Tuesday. That pushes the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,176.

DPH also said that there are 1,413 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts, up from 1,006 new cases reported Tuesday. To date, the commonwealth has seen 562,394 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 26,135 active cases.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Wednesday that 93,800 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19, up from 59,078 new tests administered on Tuesday. Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 17,019,491 total molecular tests for the virus.

As of Wednesday, 689 people remained hospitalized with coronavirus in Massachusetts. Of those patients, 183 were in the intensive care unit and 121 were intubated.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests also rose slightly to 1.77% on Wednesday, up from 1.74% on Tuesday.

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Tuesday that there are 1,006 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts, up from 892 new cases reported Monday. To date, the commonwealth has seen 560,981 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 26,636 active cases.

Additionally, Mass. DPH reported that 20 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, up from 18 deaths reported Monday. That pushes the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,123.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Tuesday that 59,078 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19, up from 41,062 new tests administered on Monday. Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 16,925,691 total molecular tests for the virus.

As of Tuesday, 704 people remained hospitalized with coronavirus in Massachusetts. Of those patients, 185 were in the intensive care unit and 117 were intubated.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests also rose slightly to 1.74% on Tuesday, up from 1.67% on Monday.

Mass. sees decline in new tests, cases & deaths

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Monday that there are 892 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the commonwealth has seen 559,975 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 27,369 active ones.

Additionally, Mass. DPH reported that 18 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,103.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Monday that 41,062 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19. That’s less than half of the 96,578 new molecular tests administered on Sunday.

Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 16,866,613 total molecular tests for the virus. The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests also rose slightly to 1.67% Monday.

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Sunday that there are 1,281 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the commonwealth has seen 559,083 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 27,320 active ones.

Additionally, Mass. DPH reported that 41 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19, pushing the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people who had confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 16,085.

DPH reports 1,495 new COVID-19 cases, 52 new deaths

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Saturday that there are 1,495 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts, bringing the total number of cases of the coronavirus in the state since the pandemic began to 557,802. Currently, there are an estimated 27,190 active cases of the virus in the commonwealth.

The number of people in Massachusetts who have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19 has eclipsed the 16,000-mark Saturday as DPH reported that 52 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of the virus. In total, the commonwealth has seen 16,044 people die while having COVID-19.

In an update to the state’s testing numbers, DPH reported that 100,359 new molecular tests have been administered for COVID-19 in Massachusetts. Since the pandemic began, the state has given out 16,728,973 total molecular tests for COVID-19.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests dipped slightly to 1.79% on Saturday.

Mass. DPH reports 25 new deaths, 1,677 new cases

The state’s Department of Public Health confirmed Friday that 25 more people have died with confirmed cases of coronavirus, down from 42 deaths reported Thursday. Those new deaths bring the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people with confirmed cases of the virus to 15,992. One death of someone with a probable case of the virus was also reported.

However, the state also saw an increase in the number of new COVID-19 cases Friday, with 1,677 new cases reported on this day, up from 1,410 new cases reported Tuesday. Since the pandemic began, Massachusetts has seen 556,307 total confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Also Friday, 106,263 new molecular tests were administered for the virus in Massachusetts. To date, a total of 16,628,614 molecular tests have been administered statewide.

Across Massachusetts, 716 people remained hospitalized with the virus as of Friday. Of those patients, 180 were in intensive care units and 109 were intubated. The average age of patients hospitalized was 69.

More than 2M total vaccines administered in Mass.

The Department of Public Health in Massachusetts released new COVID-19 vaccination numbers Friday, reporting that 74,520 new doses of vaccine have been administered in the commonwealth since their report yesterday. Of those new doses administered, 38,698 were first doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, 31,416 were second doses and 4,406 were doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

In total, 2,005,800 total doses of vaccine have been administered in Massachusetts. That number is 82.9 percent of the total doses that have been shipped to the state, which currently stands at 2,420,360.

Massachusetts has received 21,260 new vaccines since their Thursday report. Of those vaccines, 200 were shipped to Massachusetts providers, while 21,060 were shipped to pharmacies directly.

19 ’red’ communities, 42 new deaths, 1,410 new cases

The state on Thursday reported that 19 cities and towns across Massachusetts remained in the ‘red’ on Thursday, meaning they are high-risk for COVID transmission. That’s down from 28 communities with that same designation a week ago. The City of Brockton, for example, was removed from the list of communities with high-risk of COVID transmission on Thursday.

Thursday’s state data reflect an almost 83 percent drop in the number of “red” cities and towns statewide that are high-risk for COVID since Feb. 11.

The state’s Department of Public Health also announced Thursday that 42 more people have died with confirmed cases of coronavirus, down from 66 deaths reported Wednesday. Those new deaths bring the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people with confirmed cases of the virus to 15,967.

The state’s Department of Public Health announced Wednesday that 66 more people have died with confirmed cases of coronavirus, up significantly from 37 deaths reported Tuesday. Those new deaths bring the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people with confirmed cases of the virus to 15,925. Four deaths of people with probable cases of the virus was also reported.

The state also saw an increase in the number of new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, with 1,553 new cases reported on this day, up from 980 new cases reported Tuesday. Since the pandemic began, Massachusetts has seen 553,220 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, including an estimated 28,550 active cases.

More than 54K new vaccines administered in MA

The Department of Public Health in Massachusetts released new COVID-19 vaccination numbers Wednesday, reporting that 54,855 new doses of vaccine have been administered in the commonwealth since their report yesterday. Of those new doses administered, 33,109 were first doses, while 21,746 were second doses.

In total, 1,868,847 total doses of vaccine have been administered in Massachusetts. That number is 81.3% of the total doses that have been shipped to the state, which currently stands at 2,298,600.

Massachusetts has received 238,220 new vaccines since their Tuesday report. Of those vaccines, 209,330 were shipped to Massachusetts providers, while 28,890 were shipped to pharmacies directly.

37 new deaths, 980 new cases

The state’s Department of Public Health announced Tuesday that 37 more people have died with confirmed cases of coronavirus, up slightly from 26 deaths reported Monday. Those new deaths bring the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people with confirmed cases of the virus to 15,859. One death of a person with a probable case of the virus was also reported.

New cases, deaths, tests all drop

The state’s Department of Public Health announced Monday a decrease in the number of new COVID-19 cases and deaths in the state along with a stark drop in the number of new molecular tests administered for the virus in the commonwealth. Mass. DPH reported that just 53,839 new molecular tests were given out for COVID-19 in their Monday report. That’s a drop from 102,571 new tests reported Sunday.

In addition to the number of new tests nearly halving, DPH reported that there are 1,248 new confirmed cases of the virus in the state. Since the pandemic began nearly a year ago in the commonwealth, Massachusetts has seen 551,550 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, including an estimated 30,486 active cases.

Additionally, DPH reported that 26 more people in the state have died while having confirmed cases of COVID-19. Those new deaths bring the total number of fatalities in Massachusetts among people with confirmed cases of the virus to 15,822.
