BOSTON — With packed trains and platforms all along the routes Tuesday morning, it was quickly evident the Commuter Rail was seeing elevated ridership for the New England Patriots victory parade in Boston.
Keolis announced shortly after 11 a.m. they expected the day would see a record ridership for the day.
"The MBTA and Keolis deployed additional coach cars to increase capacity as much as resources allow – more passenger capacity than the network has ever operated," a spokesperson said in an email to Boston 25 News. "We will continue with increased capacity for the afternoon when the parade ends and fans return home."
The Franklin Line was delayed in both directions due to a fatal train strike in Norwood, but other lines were delayed likely due to over capacity trains.
Commuters were bombarded with Patriots fans and no other major issues were reported with passengers.
Keolis said commuters should expect lines at Commuter rail stations Tuesday afternoon.
Hundreds of thousands of giddy fans jammed downtown Boston on Tuesday for a parade celebrating the New England Patriots' sixth Super Bowl title, clamoring for more with cheers of "We want seven!" and "Next year, right here!"
