Regular service resumes on Providence/Stoughton line following delays

BOSTON — Commuters going into the Boston through the Providence/Stoughton line had to pack their patience this morning.

A mechanical issue caused Providence Train 800 to become disabled while en route to South Station. The disabled train caused delays of over an hour along the line, affecting all inbound and some outbound trains.

Providence Train 802 is assisted in removing the disabled train from the tracks, but delays of 80 to 90 minutes persisted for a while.

Regular service officially resumed at around 8:40 a.m.
