BROCKTON, Mass. — A child was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Brockton Tuesday.
The child, identified as 2-year-old Nayden Tavares, was taken to Mass General Hospital after initially being brought to Brockton Hospital.
The crash happened around 7 p.m. on Market Street, right outside the boy's home.
“I just hear ‘thud’ and I look over and I see the baby in the street a good 12 feet in front of the car,” a neighbor told FOX25.

The driver of the car remained at the scene. Police said speed does not appear to be a factor. Witnesses say police did check the driver's phone but gave it right back.
