CHELSEA, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police have identified the victims of two homicides that occurred over the weekend.
Catherine Gomez, 35, of Chelsea was struck by a bullet just after 12 a.m. on Saturday inside a home on Shawmut Street and died on the scene, according to authorities. Investigators believe Gomez was not the intended target and was struck by a stray bullet during an altercation between two groups on the street.
Officials released a surveillance photo on Saturday afternoon of two individuals they believe may have information regarding Gomez's death.
Police say the second homicide victim, 36-year-old Juan Rodriguez of Lynn, was shot during an altercation inside the French Naturalization Club at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning. Rodriguez was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. Investigators believe Rodriguez was shot after an argument inside the club escalated to gunfire.
Chelsea Police detectives and the Suffolk County State Police are investigating both homicides.
