CHELSEA, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police are investigating two fatal shootings Saturday in Chelsea.
The first of the two shootings, which police believe are not connected, took place just after midnight Friday on Shawmut Avenue in Chelsea. A 35-year-old woman died at the scene, police say.
Resident Danny Saliba said, "It was just bizarre. You know, because it sounded like a firecracker, it sounded like a small millimeter gun."
City councilor Joe Perlatonda says the mother of three was an innocent bystander.
"Some woman heard an altercation coming from the street, she looked out the window and at that time, a stray bullet killed her," he said.
The woman was living at a women's shelter, but Perlatonda says that is not connected.
Residents in the area say there was an altercation between three to four people over drugs outside of the shelter over money. Both residents and Perlatonda say this area has heavy drug activity.
Police want to talk to the two people shown in the photo attached to this post, as they believe they have information about the shooting. The Suffolk Country DA released the surveillance photo taken just after midnight.
The second shooting occurred at about 1:20 a.m. at the French Club on Spencer Avenue and a 36-year-old man was transported to Mass General Hospital where he later died of his injuries.
A woman who claimed to be the friend of the man said he was a father of 3.
Both victims were residents of Chelsea.
Anyone with information about either incident is urged to call Chelsea Police detectives at 617-466-4843.
