A serious 2-car crash at Manchester and Gorham Streets in Lowell claimed the life of one driver and sent one of the vehicles through the sign of a liquor store.
Witnesses say the car hit the sign of a liquor store and an SUV on Gorham Street around 6 a.m., pushing the SUV into a telephone pole.
Gorham Street was closed to traffic.

One of the drivers died from his injuries in the crash. Police say the man who died was 52 and lived in Lowell, though his identity has not yet been released.
