Canton Police searching for suspects in armed home invasion

CANTON, Mass. — Canton Police are searching for the suspects related to an armed home invasion.

At about 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Canton Police responded to a call for several people trying to break into a house on Rockland Street.

At the scene, officers found three people running away from the house and towards a getaway car, a Ford F150 which had been waiting for the suspects.

After a short pursuit, one of the suspects got out of the car and fled on foot in nearby Stoughton. One officer ran after the suspect, eventually catching up to him.

Canton Police took 26-year-old Doronde Bethea, of Brockton, into custody. Officers also recovered a gun Bethea had on him, which he threw away when he left the truck.

The pickup sped off with the rest of the suspects before crashing on Mill Street, where they then fled on foot.

Police believe they have identified the other suspects, saying they should make those arrests soon.

Authorities are examining the evidence and are also looking to get a search warrant on the getaway car.

Stoughton Police, Quincy Police, Massachusetts State Police and the ATF all assisted with this incident.

The suspects were able to take a small safe as well as $2,000 in the home invasion.

This is an active investigation. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Canton Police.
