Cam Newton not allowed to practice with team for 5 days under COVID policy

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Patriots Quarterback Cam Newton will have to spend most of the week away from the team as they prepare for their final preseason game.

The team announced Monday that Newton traveled to a medical appointment Saturday that was out of state.

He tested negative for COVID-19 while he was gone, but because the tests were completed outside of an NFL facility, Newton will have to quarantine from the team for five days.

He will be able to participate virtually in meetings and will return to Gillette Stadium on Thursday.
