Bunk beds sold at Bob's Discount Furniture recalled

BOSTON — Twenty-thousand sets of bunk beds sold at Bob's Discount Furniture are being recalled.

The Consumer Product and Safety Commission says the wooden bunk beds' mattress support rails can crack or break, posing a fall hazard. So far, about 650 people have reported cracked support rails. This has caused the collapse of the upper and bottom bunk bed and some fell from the top bunk. There have been eight reported injuries, including bruising, lacerations and one arm fracture.

The beds were sold at Bob's Discount Furniture stores and online from August 2010 to July 2014 for about $400.

The wooden bunk beds were sold in white (model 1030), mission oak (models 1245 and 1589) and in a twin over full combination. The model number appears on a label affixed to the inside of the bed rail or foot board.

The Consumer Product and Safety Commission said that consumers should immediately stop using the bed and contact Hillsdale Furniture, the importer, for a free installation of replacement rails by Bob's Discount Furniture.
