Bull rider dies after being thrown, stomped on at Norton rodeo

NORTON, Mass. — A bull rider died after being thrown and stepped on at a rodeo in Norton, police say.

Police say 35-year-old Evaldo DeSilva was injured at the New England Rodeo around 8:36 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Witnesses told police that DeSilva was riding a bull while wearing protective gear, and then fell from the bull to the ground before being stepped on.

DeSilva was being transported to the Norton Police station when the department got calls about the incident, and the Norton Fire Department then met him at the station.

He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police say the incident is under investigation, and say no foul play was involved.
