BOSTON — The Boston Bruins will donate proceeds of their 50/50 raffle Saturday in memory of fallen Worcester fire Lt. Jason Menard.
The fundraiser comes one day after the New York-based "Tunnel to Towers Foundation," formed after 9/11, said they would pay the first $100,000 of the Menard family's mortgage.
Lieutenant Menard died in a house fire on Wednesday while saving two of his crew from the burning home. He was supposed to take a family trip to Disney with his wife and three children later that day.
Cindy Chesna, the widow of Weymouth police sergeant Michael Chesna, shared her condolences with Menard's family on Friday.
Donations are being accepted through the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts Foundation, and 100 percent of the donations collected will go directly to Menard's family.
