AUBURN, Mass. — The state will honor fallen police Officer Ronald Tarentino, Jr., this week by naming a bridge after him.

Tarentino died when he was shot during a traffic stop in 2016.

The 42-year-old Auburn police officer left behind a wife and three children.

On Monday morning the Swanson Road Overpass will be rededicated in his name.

The bridge stretches over I-290 in Auburn.

A stretch of Route 9 in Leicester is also being renamed for Tarentino.
