Woman, 2 children dead after being found unconscious near Boston parking garage

BOSTON — Two children and a woman are dead after being found unconscious outside of the Renaissance Park Garage in Boston Wednesday afternoon.

Boston Police, Transit Police, and Northeastern University Police were called to the parking garage at 1:26 p.m. Wednesday where three people were found unconscious on the sidewalk. An adult female and two children, both believed to be under the age of five, were taken to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead.

“As a mother, it was incredibly hard, this scene in particular, where there were two young children that lost their lives today,” said District Attorney Rachael Rollins. “We’re going to do everything that we can to get the answers.”

Rollins’ Office told Boston 25 News Thursday morning that the victim is a woman in her 40s and her two young children.

During a news conference, Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said, “today is a tragedy.”

The investigation is being led by DA Rollins, with assistance from Boston Police, Boston Transit Police, and Northeastern University Police. The deaths occurred outside a garage that is owned by the school. It is the same garage where a Boston College student leapt to his death earlier this year.

Following Wednesday’s incident, Northeastern says it has “indefinitely blocked both pedestrian and vehicular access to the top two floors of the Renaissance Park garage. This restricted access will continue until a permanent solution is implemented. In addition, effective immediately, there will be 24-hour security staffing in place to monitor the Renaissance Park garage.”
