BOSTON — A 10-year-old girl remains in critical condition at a local hospital after being shot in a Roxbury apartment, Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said in a press conference held Saturday evening in the city.
The shooting took place in an apartment building located at 21 Nazing St. in Roxbury. Law enforcement alleged that the victim was shot when a firearm in a separate apartment was discharged. The bullet went through, “several walls” before striking the girl, according to Commissioner Gross.
The firearm was shot during a gathering at a nearby apartment in the building.
Commissioner Gross, Mayor Marty Walsh and Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins all condemned the shooting at their press conference and further criticized the gathering that led to it, which, the trio claimed, violated the state’s advisory in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
