BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Boston is hosting the Pokemon World Championship this weekend.
Thousands of prizes and more than $2 million in scholarships are up for grabs at the invitation-only event, which is taking place at the Hynes Convention Center.
More than 1,000 of the most elite Pokemon trading card game and video game players from over 30 countries will compete, but only one will win the ultimate title of Pokemon World Champion.
Attendees can expect to encounter passionate Pokemon fans and competitors of all ages. The events includes head-to-head Pokemon trading card and video game battles, as well as Pokemon cosplay, costumed characters, and opening and closing ceremonies.
