AUBURN, Mass. — The Auburn Fire Rescue Department was called to a home on Pakachoag Street Thursday night for reported explosion.
A 14-year-old girl called 911 Thursday evening to report an explosion and smoke in the basement of 214 Pakachoag Street.
A boiler explosion in the basement caused a piece of metal to puncture the oil tank and destroy the chimney and other appliances in the basement. Officials say approximately 225 gallons of oil spilled in the basement.
The Auburn Police Department, building inspector, plumbing inspector, wiring inspector, Mass. DEP, Red Cross and oil service were all called to the home to assist.
Fire crews say the house is not tenable until everything has been restored and cleaned up.
No one was injured.
