BOSTON — A Coast Guard ship is back in Boston after seizing more than $92 million in cocaine during a counter-drug patrol in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
During their patrol, the Coast Guard Cutter Spencer busted four vessels, seizing around 1,400 kilograms, more than 3,000 pounds, of cocaine. They also arrested 13 suspected smugglers.
The Spencer, a 290-foot boat with 15 officers and 74 enlisted personnel, also collaborated with the Costa Rican Coast Guard to bust another fishing vessel smuggling around 2,900 pounds of marijuana.
"I could not be any more proud of my crew for keeping the drugs off the streets of the United States and ensuring a safer country," said commanding officer of the Spencer, Peter Niles.
