Beverly woman dies days after alleged attack by estranged husband

BEVERLY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A woman has died days after being hospitalized after police say her estranged husband tried to kill her.

Police say that 54-year-old Axel Scherer has been charged with assault to murder charges.

Police were called to the home Penny Lane in Beverly around 5 p.m. Monday.

Scherer will be arraigned in Salem District Court Tuesday.
