BARNSTABLE, Mass. — A 19-year veteran of the Barnstable Police Department passed away on Saturday night, according to the department's official Facebook page.
Sgt. Jason Sturgis died unexpectedly on Saturday. A member of Barnstable PD for nearly two decades, Sturgis worked in the Patrol Division and previously served in the Community Impact Unit.

Officials did not mention Sturgis' cause of death in the announcement.
