The bar where everybody knows your name was sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars at auction over the weekend.
Heritage Auctions says the bar counter with brass railings and bar stools from the hit Boston-based sitcom, “Cheers”, went for $675,000. The set was featured in all 275 episodes during the show’s 11-season run.
The fully assembled bar measures approximately 125 in. long on each side and 44 in. tall at the upper rails, according to auction officials. It also features memorabilia from the show, including the original bar black touchtone phone and Boston area telephone book.
Many of the main cast members carved their initials into the countertop, including John Ratzenberger’s “Ratz” initials. Ratzenberger played U.S. mail carrier Cliff Clavin.
The bidding was part of The Comisar Collection Platinum Signature Auction, which featured a plethora of paraphernalia from NBC’s 1980s late-night lineup, including the “Tonight Show” desk and David Letterman’s desk.
