Arrest made in shooting death of 16-year-old in Brockton

BROCKTON, Mass. — Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz announced Tony Semedo-Cardoso, 30, of Brockton, has been charged with murder. He's scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon in Brockton District Court.

The unidentified teenager was shot and killed while traveling in a car early Friday.

He was dropped off at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital's emergency room, where he died.

Half-hour earlier, Brockton Police received a ShotSpotter notification around 12:45 a.m. of a shot fired in the area of Intervale Street. Officers responded to the area to investigate, but didn’t find any ballistic evidence.

Cruz said the investigation is active and ongoing.
