BOSTON — After 29 years, a Boston family finally has the justice they've been waiting for.

Marivelle Crespo was just 16 years old in 1988, when her brother, William Medina and another man Antonio Dos Reis, were shot to death sitting in a car parked on Warren and Windsor streets in Roxbury.

As reported by Bob Ward on Boston 25 News at 6 p.m., 52-year-old Carleton Henderson was arrested Tuesday in St. Louis on charges related to the double murders.

"It's actually surreal. We're still trying to digest it," said Crespo.

According to a news report in 1988, just a half hour after this double murder, there was another double shooting just a few streets away. Two men were arrested for that shooting, but Medina and Dos Reis's murders remained unsolved.

Boston Police told Boston 25 News that there was finally a break in the case in 1991 when another man, Rueben Taylor, was himself murdered in Miami.

Ballistics collected from his gun, recovered in a hotel room led investigators to Henderson.

"These families are not forgotten. These cases are not going to away and they keep trying to solve them," she said.

Marivelle Crespo is a Boston Police officer, she works as a liaison to homicide victims. As she said on Boston 25 News at 6, getting justice 29 years later is giving her a whole new perspective on her work.
