Arlington Police: Jogger assaulted teen biking to school

ARLINGTON, Mass. — Arlington Police are looking for a jogger who allegedly punched a 13-year-old boy while he was riding his bike to school.

Police tell Boston 25 News that the middle-schooler was riding his bike along a popular path Tuesday morning when he was punched by a jogger who was trying to get around him. The boy's mother tells us that he will be OK, but it was startling for him to experience on his way to school.

Arlington Police Captain Richard Flynn says the boy was riding his bike on the Minuteman Bikeway in Arlington when a jogger came up behind him. The boy told police he stopped to let the jogger pass him, but after some confusion, police say the jogger punched the boy and kept going.

That boy quickly took out his phone to capture video of the man who hit him.

"Apparently the man was jogging, the boy was on his bike, there was a little, 'you go, I'll go' and I guess the boy made his way around the jogger, at which point he said something to the effect of 'hey I didn't tell you to go' and he struck the boy in the shoulder.

Police say the jogger was a white, middle-aged man with facial hair. He was wearing a bright yellow shirt at the time. Anyone with information should call police.
