PORTLAND, Maine — Amtrak is bringing a 1955 domed railcar to Maine for the first time.
Some passengers who ride the Amtrak Downeaster train between Saturday and Sept. 18 will have a chance to ride in the car, which features an upper level with windows on all sides. The train will travel four times a day.
Amtrak says riders will have views of the coastline, marshes and streams along the Downeaster route.
Seats will be unreserved and available on a first-come, first served basis. There is no extra fee for riding in the dome car.
The Downeaster runs from Boston to Portland, with two trips each day extending to Freeport and Brunswick.
