BOSTON — Boston Prep announced there will be no class on Friday as school officials take precautionary measures to keep students safe from the novel coronavirus.
In a statement on Thursday, the school told Boston 25 News they are monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely and working to “ensure the safety of 58 students and teachers who traveled to Rome, Italy during February vacation as well as that of their peers.”
After listening and remaining in close contact with the school community and assessing the appropriate actions to take based on guidance by local, state and federal health agencies, the school has decided to close so the building can undergo a deep clean. According to the school, this includes their regular cleaning procedures as well as additional steps to further sanitize and disinfect their spaces.
School officials stressed that at no point in time have any students or staff presented symptoms for nor have they tested positive for the virus.
Classes will resume regularly on Monday, March 9 and the school will continue to take all necessary steps to keep the community safe.
