They've been spotted on golf courses, in neighborhoods, underneath cars and knocking on doors (maybe). And now you can add the mean streets of New York to the list.
An alligator was spotted Thursday casually strolling along a Manhattan sidewalk.
Onlookers were bemused but not in too much danger. The alligator was only 3-feet long.
“I came out real quick and there was bunch of police officers outside and there was a little, small crocodile facing the gate,” Paul Perez told 1010 WINS’ Al Jones.
Animal control was called, and the alligator was captured without incident. The street where it was walking ends at a park along the Harlem River. The alligator could have come from there, or it may have been a pet let loose in the city.
Animal Care & Control said it was looking for a rehabilitation center for the gator, which was named CockadoodleQ, but later reported that the alligator had died.
