BOSTON (MyfoxBoston.com) -- The murder trial of Edwin Alemany continued Thursday, and some people from his personal life took the stand. The prosecution used this day of the trial to prove that Alemany spent his murder victim's money, right after he killed her.
Jonathan Lee said his longtime friend seemed normal when they spoke the morning of July 23 2013. Lee says Alemany was buying gas at the Best of Boston station in Roslindale around 8 a.m. that day, shortly after prosecutors say he kidnapped, robbed and killed 24-year-old Amy Lord. Alemany was driving what looked like a black jeep believed to be Amy's, and Lee says when he asked his friend where he got the vehicle, Alemany told him not to worry about it.
Lee also said Alemany told him he'd won a thousand dollars on scratch tickets.
Surveillance video showed Alemany later in the day with a wad of cash buying $300 to $400 worth of scratch tickets at an Andrew Square Tedeschi's and picking up beer at a Roslindale liquor store.
Another longtime friend of his, Eric Cataloni, told the jury Alemany then showed up at his house in a livery car with a case of Corona in hand. When the two racked up a $100 bill at the Tahiti Restaurant in Dedham with friends, Alemany paid for half.
Alemany's former girlfriend and mother of his child also took the stand, and said he had trouble holding onto a job.
The murder trial will continue Monday.
