BOSTON — Newbury Street will be closed to cars, but open for foot traffic all day Sunday.
The car-free zone will allow people to hit the shops and cafes without having to look both ways.
Parking restrictions started at 8 a.m. Sunday morning and will allow the street to be closed to traffic from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. between Berkeley Street and Mass. Avenue.
The event is being hosted by the City of Boston and Mayor Marty Walsh.
How to get there
While you can't bring your car, the city notes the following T stops are located near Newbury Street.
- Arlington
- Copley
- Hynes
- Back Bay
There will also be bike corrals on Newbury Street so you can park your bike and leave it as your shop.
There are also several Hubway dock locations in Back Bay. You can check for open spaces on the BOS Bikes app.
