800-pound moose wandering near Worcester highway is tranquilized

WORCESTER, Mass. — Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers had a big task Wednesday evening after a moose was seen wandering near the highway.

Officials were called to I-190 in Worcester Wednesday night after reports of a moose sighting.

Since the huge moose (an estimated 800 pounds!) was wandering around the highway, MEP officers decided the moose needed to be tranquilized and relocated.

Worcester Fire and state police helped to immobilize the moose and move it to an undisclosed rural location. There, officials monitored the moose until it fully recovered.
