QUINCY, Mass. — A 79-year-old Braintree man is in critical condition after being struck by a police cruiser on Wednesday morning.
The crash happened at around 7:30 a.m. on Independence Avenue near Goddard Street in Quincy as the man was crossing the street.
At the time of the crash, Quincy Police were responding to a medical call with CPR in progress. Police say the cruiser had its emergency lights activated when it struck the pedestrian.
The man, identified as Giovanni Angeluci, was transported to Boston Medical Center in critical condition.
The officer who had been driving the cruiser was transported to a local hospital and has been placed on temporary leave.

No further information has been released as Weymouth Police investigate the incident.
