40-year-old man dies in head-on crash in Rockland

ROCKLAND, Mass. — Rockland Police are investigating a crash that killed a 40-year-old man in Rockland on Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened at around 1:25 p.m. in the area of Centre Avenue and Market Street, according to police.

Preliminary investigation shows a silver Nissan Versa that had been traveling west on Market Street when, for reasons still unknown, the driver lost control and veered into the eastbound lane of Centre Ave., hitting a Mercedes sedan head-on.

The driver of the Versa, a 40-year-old Rockland man, was rushed to a local hospital where he died. The passenger of the Versa, a 20-year-old man, was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 43-year-old Rockland man, was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Rockland Police continue to investigate this crash.
