3 arrested after raid at Hyannis restaurant

HYANNIS, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- It was a sting operation to take drugs off the streets on the Cape and three were arrested after the recent raid at a Hyannis Chinese food restaurant.

More than 20 police officers descended on Shanghai Restaurant arresting two Hyannis men inside. Police say the two had been dealing drugs at the restaurant. A third Hyannis man, also suspected of selling drugs there, was arrested in Dennis.

In all, police said they issued either warrants based on their undercover work. They said one of the most disturbing elements of the case was the face that a young boy, possibly as young as 12, was used as a drug mule to pass drugs inside the restaurant.

Police had been watching the restaurant since September and say that drug trafficking, specifically of heroin, may be to blame for a recent spike in overdoses in the east end of town. No one from the restaurant had a comment.

Since the beginning of this month EMS in Hyannis responded to 36 overdose calls and police say the drugs may be cut with something deadly or are just a very pure form of heroin.
