MALDEN, Mass. — The 2020 Democratic presidential candidate known as "Mayor Pete" joined striking Stop and Shop workers in Malden Friday.
Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, showed up in Massachusetts to support workers rallying to get better healthcare and wages from the grocery store chain.

Buttigieg spoke to a group of workers gathered outside a retail location in Malden.

The company and the union representing employees across the northeast were set to continue negotiations Friday, but the grocery company declined to speak about the state of the dispute.
