2 people shot on I-93, police shut down highway

BOSTON — Massachusetts State Police are responding to Exit 12 on I-93 for reports of a shooting of two people on a motorcycle on the highway.

A suspect vehicle allegedly fled the scene. Randolph police said that State Police helicopters are searching the town in connection with the shooting. Initial reports say that the car exited on to Route 28, said police.

One of the victims has been transported to Boston Medical Center while the other was taken to Tufts Medical Center. Police believe the victims' injuries are serious.

MSP shut down all southbound lanes to investigate, but have since re-opened one. According to reports, traffic backed up several miles.

The suspect vehicle is described as a red, possibly orange, Jeep Renegade occupied by two males at the time of the shooting. If you observe a car matching this description, call 911 immediately and do not approach it.

Police are asking that anyone who was on the southeast expressway this afternoon around 5 p.m. and may have seen the vehicle, the incident itself or anything suspicious, to contact State Police communications at 508-820-2121.
