2 charged with murder for January shooting in Dorchester

BOSTON – Two people have been arrested in connection to the shooting death of a 17-year-old in Dorchester last month.

Chad O’Connor was killed around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 14, in the area of Kenwood and Washington streets.

Police said he died from a gunshot wound, but the investigation into exactly what happened is on-going.

On Friday, Feb. 9 police arrested 18-year-old Rishaard Sheppard and 18-year-old Branden Singleton, both of Dorchester, and charged them with murder.

"I want to acknowledge and commend my officers for the hard work and dedication to justice that preceded the arrest of the two suspects wanted in connection to this crime,” Police Commissioner Bill Evans said.

“To the family and friends of Chad O'Connor, it is my sincere hope that the news of today's arrests will provide for them some small measure of comfort and closure."
