HOPKINTON — When 15-year-old Meher Kaur’s dad was diagnosed with COVID-19 a month ago, it was a scary and isolating time for her family in Hopkinton.
“It was definitely hard because there were all these cases where it was getting increasingly worse for people and I saw the death rates climb,” she said. “That’s when I started getting scared.”
Her family chose to stay positive and thankfully, they came through it.
Her father, Navdeep Singh said, “The recovery is all over the spectrum, anywhere from asymptomatic to very serious cases, I would want to say I was somewhere in the middle. I did go through a period that was a little difficult.”
Now, Meher wants to be a resource for other families through a blog she is writing.
She told Boston 25 News: “I think mindset is a big part of it.”
“More than the physical recovery is the mental recovery,” she said.
The blog focuses on their story from Meher’s perspective, it includes thing her family wishes they knew.
It also offers mental and emotional support for others.
“I think it’s a bit different coming from a kid my age, because if there are other kids dealing with it, hoping they can also read this and understand it’s going to be OK,” she said.
