A young girl from Norwell spent her weekend raising money for police following a string of recent tragedies.

11-year-old Gabriella Hill sold "Blue Lives Matter" keychains and cookies outside of her home on Hall Drive Saturday and Sunday.

Gabriella's mother, Ryan, was born and raised in Weymouth. Gabriella has grown up in Norwell. Mom and daughter wanted to share their proceeds with both towns' police departments.

Half of what they raised will be donated to the fund set-up in honor of fallen Weymouth Police Sergeant Michael Chesna. The other half will be donated to the Norwell Police K9 Foundation.

"It's because of all the cops who have been hurt and shot recently and Nero, the dog that got shot in April, that just made us realize we should do something," Gabriella told Boston 25 News on Sunday.

In April, K9 Nero was shot while serving a warrant in Marstons Mills with his partner, Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon. Sgt. Gannon was killed. K9 Nero is recovering.

Norwell Police K9 Officer Nathan Morena stopped by Saturday to show his support.

The Norwell Police K9 Foundation helps with providing the Norwell K9 with necessary equipment and services required to maintain a successful K9 program.

K9 Izak joined the Norwell Police Department last year.
