10 people injured after building block display falls at Peabody arcade

PEABODY, Mass. — Multiple people were hospitalized after a display fell at an arcade center on Tuesday afternoon.

Peabody Fire Chief John Dowling says they received a call around 12:07 p.m. for a partial ceiling collapse at In The Game Peabody on Lowell Street.

Arriving crews found that a display of Legos suspended 12 feet in the air by balloons had fallen on a group of people following a failed New Years celebration, according to authorities.

Chief Dowling says four people were transported to Salem Hospital, four people were transported to Lahey Hospital, and two people refused transport. All parties sustained minor injuries.

Crews cleared the scene around 12:45 p.m.

No further information was immediately available.
