BOSTON — Boston police say they have launched a death investigation after a man was stabbed to death on a street in East Boston Tuesday night.

The victim, who Boston police said was a man in his early 20s, was found on West Eagle Street just after 11:30 p.m. suffering from stab wounds and was taken to a local hospital.

That victim was later identified as Carlos Ramos, 22, of East Boston.

Police have not said when Ramos died, but they said around 9 a.m. that it had shifted to a death investigation.

A man who lives on West Eagle Street said he was watching TV with his wife when they heard someone yelling in pain outside. Bryan Ennis said he rushed outside to help and saw a man lying in the street in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on his back. After calling 911, Ennis said he and another neighbor tried to stop the bleeding with towels.

Investigators were seen collecting what appeared to be blood-stained clothing from the street and loading it into evidence bags. Police remained at the scene into the morning.

Another neighbor, Huy Phan, said he didn't hear anything, but his surveillance camera captured the police response to the stabbing.

Police said they have not made any arrests in connection with the stabbing, but they are looking for a white Ford Mustang that neighbors say they saw leaving the scene.
