Teen charged in Beverly fatal shooting

BEVERLY, Mass. — A 19-year-old has been charged with murder in the death of a man in Beverly Saturday night, and friends say they were best friends.

Beverly Police said a 21-year-old man was shot on Ropes Street before 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. Friends told FOX25 that the two men were playing with a gun when it went off, striking the 21-year-old. He was taken to Beverly Hospital and pronounced dead.

Police said Justice Galarza, 19, turned himself in to Beverly Police.

Friends told FOX25 that Galarza was trying to join the Army and was a very hard worker.

"He is a good dude. He would do anything for anyone. He would give you the last dollar in his pocket," one friend told FOX25's Malini Basu.

Beverly Police and Massachusetts State Police are investigating.  Galarza is set to be arraigned in Salem on Monday.
