Update 9:37 a.m. EDT April 12: Jagger is back on his feet, posting a photo Thursday of himself in front of a wall of flowers with the caption, "A walk in the park." It is the singer's first photo since undergoing surgery to repair a heart valve last week.

Update 1:45 p.m. EDT April 5: Jagger thanked fans for their support in a statement posted Friday on social media.

"I'm feeling much better now and on the mend -- and also a huge thank you to all the hospital staff for doing a superb job," Jagger wrote.

In a statement obtained Friday by The Associated Press, a representative for Jagger said he was "doing very well and is expected to make a full recovery."

Update 4:45 p.m. EDT April 1: Mick Jagger will have heart surgery, resulting in the postponing of the North American leg of the Rolling Stones No Filter tour, according to Rolling Stone magazine. Because of the recovery time, the tour has been delayed.

Original report: The Rolling Stones have postponed their upcoming tour in the United States and Canada after doctors advised Mick Jagger not to go.

The Rolling Stones tweeted the announcement Saturday morning. Jagger also issued a tweet at the same time the postponement was announced, apologizing to North American fans.

"I'm so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets. I really hate letting you down like this," he tweeted. "I'm devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone."

The band has not announced yet when the new concert dates will be, but says that they will be released soon.

The delay comes after Mick Jagger was advised by doctors he could not go on tour due to a medical condition that required treatment, the announcements said.

Doctors said Jagger is expected to make a full recovery so that he can get back on stage as quickly as possible, according to the Rolling Stones.

Jagger will turn 76 on July 26 of this year.

Those with tickets already purchased for the now-postponed shows are advised to hold onto them, the band announced. The Rolling Stones said that those tickets will still be valid for the rescheduled dates.
