John Monahan is a general assignment reporter for Boston 25 News. In the course of his career he's covered many of the biggest stories in Boston, including the Marathon Bombings and the capture of suspected bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. John was on the field for the Red Sox 2013 World Series Championship. John was a reporter at Boston 25 from 2003 to 2007 and took a hiatus to start his own media consulting business. The "news" lured him back and John is glad to be home again on Boston 25. Prior to his first stint with Boston 25, John was a reporter at WLVI in Boston. He has covered presidential debates, the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy and was on assignment the night ‘Shoe Bomber' Richard Reid attempted to blow up an American Airlines flight which was later diverted to Boston's Logan airport. Prior to working in Boston, John spent two years as Bureau Chief for the CBS affiliate in Monterey, Calif. Before that, he was weekend anchor/reporter and later primary anchor for the FOX affiliate in Salinas, Calif. John graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and also earned an academic scholarship to study Spanish at the University of Salamanca in Spain.
