Reporter

Daniel Coates joined Boston 25 as a reporter in November of 2023. Daniel, a South Shore native, is thrilled to be at his home station, delivering newsworthy stories across New England as a part of the nightside team! Daniel grew up in Scituate, MA, and went on to attend Boston College High School and later Boston College. During his undergraduate years studying communications and journalism, he served as one of the directors of WZBC Sports – the student-run sports radio of BC. He began broadcasting regularly over the airwaves for football, basketball, baseball, and other sports across campus. Shortly after graduating in 2021, Daniel worked as the broadcaster for the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League. On-camera and over the airwaves, he oversaw the play-by-play broadcast for some of the best amateur baseball talent in the country. Daniel began his news career in November 2021 as a reporter with WLNE ABC 6 Providence. He was instantly thrown into some of Southern New England’s biggest stories – crime, politics, sports, and, of course, nor’easters! As a primary member of the nightside team, he grew a passion for local news and New England’s daily stories. During this time, Daniel also received a master’s degree in Sports Leadership from Northeastern University. After two years, Daniel joined his local station as a reporter in the fall of 2023. During his time, he’s covered some of New England’s most high-profile stories including the Karen Read trial, the Celtics 2024 championship run, and more wicked weather close to home! Daniel is thrilled to be back in Boston and bringing people across the region stories that matter to them. When off the air, Daniel loves spending time with family and friends. An avid skier, golfer, and sports fanatic -- he can’t wait to explore more of what New England has to offer! Got a story idea? You can reach Daniel at daniel.coates@boston25.com
