NASHUA, N.H. — A 102-year-old woman has survived the Spanish flu, cancer (twice) and now the coronavirus.
Mildred “Gerry” Schappals survived the Spanish flu when she was an infant in 1918, CNN reported.
She went to college, got a graduate degree and became a teacher. When she retired, she was diagnosed with and overcame breast and colon cancer.
In 2020, she was infected with the coronavirus, which she also beat.
“I always feel lucky,” Schappals told CNN. “I’ve never really had any problems in my life.”
