PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A woman who claimed to be a designated driver is facing charges of driving while intoxicated after police said she crashed into three parked cars in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Melanie Esclera, 40, had a blood alcohol content twice the legal limit when she was tested by police following the string of crashes just before 1 a.m. Sunday, WTVT reported.
No one was injured in the crashes, but Esclera’s car burst into flames following the third collision, and officers used their own extinguishers to put out the blaze, WPEC reported.
Officers also found a bottle of whiskey on the front seat of Esclera’s 2010 sedan, WTVT reported.
