Massachusetts mosque receives hate letter

WAYLAND, Mass. — A Massachusetts mosque has received a hate letter that has been sent to mosques around the country.

Malik Khan, president of the Islamic Center of Boston in Wayland, tells the MetroWest Daily News that his mosque received the note that appears to be a photocopy of a handwritten letter.

The letters are addressed to "the children of Satan" and refer to Muslims as "vile and filthy people." The letter calls President-elect Donald Trump the "new sheriff in town" and says he will do to Muslims what Hitler did to Jews. It's signed "Americans for a Better Way."

Khan plans on notifying local police and the state attorney general.

The FBI has said it is monitoring the situation but is not investigating because the letters do not make a specific threat.
